i asked my ped about this b/c i'm a big vitamin taker and i wanted to make sure my son was getting all he needed.

his dr. said that it wasn't necessary, but if it made me feel better, then i could certainly give him vitamin drops.
i started to, but they taste awful and my son was not thrilled about them.
so, i stopped and i'll start giving him vitamins when he can chew them up, like flintstones or gummis.

take care:)

Doctors usually recommend breastfed infants be put on vitamins starting in the 6 month. This is because they can't get all of the nutrition they need from you anymore. (It is the iron and the Vitamin D that are most important). While Vitamin D usually isn't an issue during the summer, since you can get your daughter out in the sun, it becomes difficult to get during the late fall and winter when we are indoors most of the time, and all bundled up when we go out.

Ask your doctor. If she's eating well, she's getting all that she needs. My pediatrician gave us vitamin drops when my son was about 7months old, but that is because we do not use our tap water, so he is not getting flouride in his food and he has a few teeth.

Call your Pediatrician for accurate information on this issue of vitamins. It really is hard to say if we don't know what your health or baby health is.

You may continue giving your baby multivitamins as supplement. For proper guidance, ask the pediatrician of other ways to take care of your baby's health.
