To become a collector you must start buying items that you would like to collect. Find things that you like. To become a dealer I would say you should start by finding good deals on items. You must be able to buy the item for a good price in order to mark the price up to make a profit. It will take a lot of research to be able to know what an item is worth. At your age, I would suggest to try to sell a few items here and there on Ebay. Good luck.

HI 14 Year old
Start by reading a number of books;
-CATER BROS and DAD by Alan Carter
- The LOVEJOY Books
-ALAN CARTER ANTIQUES PRICE GUIDES
Anyone can become a dealer,start by going to garage sales buy cheap odd,oneoffs,unusual items take to an auction house and sell them hopefully you will make a profit (some will some wont).If you do that for a couple of years very quickly you will educate yourself what sells and what does not sell.There are no short cuts you have to gain experiance by going to auctions,shops,fairs,swap meets,by talking to dealers.Travel to Victoria,check out XXXX Antique complex in Castlemaine(Peter Landers is by far the Best Dealer in Australia owner of xxxx)Mill markets in Daylesford,Sydney Antique Centre,Tyyab Packing House Atique Centre,try to go to every Antique shop in Australia.Do all of that and your well and truely on your way.Items to trade in sugest Enamel Signs,Tins,garage oil stuff,Retro Furniture,Lace,Shells,Antique Diving gear.all are hot sellers .Stay away from brown furniture.Any further advice email me .greg@oldsydneysigns.com.au
GOOD LUCK

You find a area you like. You study them. You buy them. You open a shop or work online and sell them. You don't need a college degree to become an antique dealer.

look into joining a local Antiques store as a worker and learn as you go
also to make money look for discarded antiques and at flea markets to sell to gain knowledge of the items
It is better to start small say collect little gold things or to collect and sell planting pots or eggbeaters or the oldest of anything you can find

Comics and Baseball cards!! Kidding! :)
Silver, China, Brass... It should depend on what you like. It would be hard to become a dealer in a subject you do not care for.
Once your collection is big enough, you can try to open a little shop somewhere until you have enough money to buy full collections, then you can get bigger shops going.

Depends on where you are located. You will probably need to get a couple of tax numbers, one for the business and one for sales tax, and, of course, the more you know about antiques the better.
