absolutely.

example:
my sister, 10, once (maybe even a few times) watched a television show where the characters freaked out about dirty baby diapers.
i once was changing my daughter, and my sister began freaking out... she never did this before...

SOME children i think are VERY susceptible to what the media tells them to do and act.
others can take it or leave it...

It can, but in my general opinion...no. kids are smarter than most adults make them out to be. I understand censoring very small children from violent or otherwise questionable television, but a school aged child has the brain power to distinguish between fact and fiction. I grew up watching shows like The A team and Bugs Bunny and others...but you don't see me blowing up cars or trying to feed a roadrunner birdseed from ACME! lol
Of course there are those that will and unfortunately...they are the ones who ruin the fun for all. Yes....parents have an obligation to shield their children from television they deem unsuitable, but some take it to extremes.
My friend growing up wasn't allowed to watch the Smurfs because they thought it dealt with witchcraft! That friend is probably an alcoholic living on welfare practicing "the craft"! lol anyway...the point is, kids are smart...give them credit!

You can't place the blame soley on tv. Parents need to take some f*cking responsiblilty for their children. Raise them to no be easily influenced.

I don't think so, many of us grew up with TV watching violent cartoons etc, and turned out fine. I would say that it is the parents not working with the children to train them how tho think and act that are more to blame.

I do not believe so. TV is used as a scapegoat when folk (including kids) do something stupid. You have to already have a screw loose to commit stupid acts.

I would say Yes, but at the end of the day it shouldn't be used as an excuse..... Parents need to spend more time with their kids and moniterwhat they watch and how much.... Why is this question in gay and lesbian section? Does it relate to your question?

Sometimes, especially if the parents haven't had a discussion with them about the difference in Fantasy and Reality.

ABSOLUTELY, unlike some generation people before them, very few current generation kids are smart, therefore believing
almost ANYTHING they hear. I think someone should be allowed to explain what half this stuff actually means. (like an 8
year old who thinks "pimp" means cool, and I think "Robot Chicken" pretty much explains that in the clip, "Pimp my Sister." while other shows make it out to be "cool"

i think it is influential but i still think kids do choose to misbehave. when i was a teen and a kid (not long ago lol) i knew exactly what i was doing and so did my friends. the only thing that i think is very influential on kids is the images on the t.v. and in the media. kids and teens are self conscious and take that stuff in more. oh yeah plus guns and violence
