At this time, your veiws are not important because the statue has already been put up and won't be coming down, so just face the fact that there's nothing you can do about it and Mandela was a great man of class and honour not just a normal leader. He's one of the few decent leaders left in the world.

Mandela and his young boys were worse than the IRA, although it's close.

ck4829 how many founding fathers kidnapped, tortured and murdered there neighbours?

I'm not saying apartheid was right but Mandela was head of an evil group of people who controlled there local population by fear.

The reason why Mandela is worshiped by the PC brigade is because he was the main status symbol against apartheid. Anyone pointing out that Mandela caused South Africa to go into crisis is blasted as a racist and although poverty, violent crime, murder, Racism, etc have all increased since apartheid was ended it's wrong to say that people like Mandela have done anything but good for the country.

Mr Mandela was never a terrorist, just a dissident. By his example, and certainly since being freed, he has done huge service to all right-thinking people in South Africa in bringing an end to apartheid. I think he deserves his place in front of the building which houses the oldest democracy in the world. Go, Nelson!!!

How is Nelson Mandela a terrorist?
Did he murder people? As I understand it he stood up to Apartheid.
One mans terrorist is anothers freedom fighter. To 90% of the world he is a freedom fighter. Its a shame you cant see it the same way.
He is perhaps the only man on the planet that commands the respect of all world leaders.

What is most ridiclious is that the average Brittish student, when they are asked about Nelson, will think of Mandela and not the admiral or the naval college.

He is loved because he did not get rid of the racist white people like Mr Robert Mugabe did. That's why. If someone takes over your house and farm and you then fight them would you be a terrorist?

He should have stayed with Winnie.

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. A few years ago we had to put up with a state visit from Menachim Begin (sentenced to death for terrorism by the British, but he escaped) Give it a few years and we'll be welcoming that great statesman, President Osama.

Maybe you should appeal to the authorities, and ask them to build a statue that you would like. It would be probably made of a white material, with a big, shaved head and a face distorted in rage. Cheer up, admire what the man stands for, and you may feel better about yourself someday.
