I just finished a 6 year boycott of the airline ('cos they had a special deal on) and didn't they just go remind me why I boycotted them in the first place...? What a bunch of wänkers.

leon j - sorry mate, but you are a fückwit. There is nothing in my question to suggest I am a "another vane ,pompous, ill treated, brat", as other respondees demonstrate with their answers. Your answer, in contrast, bears all the hallmarks of another vane ,pompous, ill treated, brat spouting cräp about which he knows very little. Kindly go and shove your very large ego up your equally cavernous ärse.

A guy sitting at a bar at Heathrow Terminal 3 noticed an attractive woman
sitting next to him. He thought to himself: "Wow, she's so
gorgeous she must be a flight attendant. But which airline does she work
for?"
Hoping to pick her up, he leaned towards her and uttered the Delta Airways
slogan: "Love to fly and it shows?"
She gave him a blank, confused stare and he immediately thought to himself:
"Damn, she doesn't work for Delta."
A moment later, another slogan popped into his head. towards her again,
"Something special in the air?"
She gave him the same confused look. He mentally kicked himself, and
scratched Singapore Airlines off the list.
Next he tried the Thai Airways slogan: "Smooth as Silk."
This time the woman turned to him and said, "What the fu ck do you want?"
The man smiled, then slumped back in his chair, and said
"Ah, British Airways".

All airlines employ staff with attitude. However, BA are usually quite polite in the way they call you an a**hole. To be honest, they are well trained and are normally excellent but there is the odd ocassion that things go wrong. Could you imagine being on the other side of the planet and have just arrived after a 10 hour flight. You just get to your hotel when you get a call to say you are needed on the return flight as somebody has called in sick. You've had no sleep for over 24 hours and you have to do another 10 hour flight. When you get to the airport, the passengers are going wild as the flight is now delayed due to the time that it's taken you to get to the airport. What makes it worse is that due to the flight missing it's slot, there's not another slot for over one hour. Through no fault of your own, you are getting abusive, personal remarks from some passengers and you are extremely tired. Now, how can you remain calm and restrain yourself from throttling the fat slob that has done nothing but call you worse than sh*t since he boarded? I couldn't do it! Could you? As for the "Check-In Staff, they are getting loads of sh*t thrown at them as well. Once again, it's not their fault. At the end of the day the blame goes to George Bush for wanting to invade as many Middle Eastern countries as he could get away with. Blame George Bush for supplying Israel with "ILLEGAL" cluster bombs for Israel to drop on Lebanese women and children. The USA was committing terrorist acts, around the world, a long time before 9/11 and due to the retaliation, airport security has been tightened thus causing long delays. That is not the fault of the Check-In Staff. They also face longer working hours as more and more staff report sick as they are so depressed from taking abuse over long hours, every day. Staff regularly have to work longer shifts to cover for sick colleagues. As the situation worsens, passengers get more abusive and physical attacks aren't uncommon. I think the wa*kers here are the people that can't understand the sh*t that airline staff have to take, through no fault of their own and just add more to the problem. Maybe, if you weren't such a wan*er yourself, the staff may have treat you better.

I fly with British Airways all time - maybe 3 - 4 times per year and they have been great - the staff have been good - when I nearly missed my flight they were GREAT and held up plane for me - so I do not know why all you people are saying bad about ba - maybe attitude problem ! Maybe you think they should kiss your feet and be perfect nice when maybe YOU ARE OUT OF ORDER

Hi,
I did a similar, in that travelling to and from the Mid-East quite a lot, I gave up with BA, and used Gulf Air.
The whole BA experience left me in tatters.
Same trans-atlantic. A complete shambles from beginning to end. How they advertise as "the worlds' favourite airline" is beyond me as to how they get away with it.
As you say, surly staff, delays, lost bags,. literally stinking planes coming from Australia. Altogether worse than a saturday night bus out of of Newcastle, and I am a Geordie, but no longer a flyer of the BA flag,
They are crap !

As a frequent flyer I avoid British Airways.
The reason for this decision was that on a flight from Barcelona to the UK.(WHICH WAS BOOKED AS IBERIA.) I was given a stale roll which had no use by date!
Obviously I complained.
I was told to address any complaint to their office and given a form to state my grievance.
I still await an answer 12 years later !!

You have to realize the pool of potential employees gives them the advantage of only picking the rudest people not just the average person. They must use the same employment agency as Air Canada, which if they are the only flight available I will either drive or not go.

I generally find it best to avoid BA staff as far as possible. You can buy your ticket and check in on-line and collect your boarding pass from an automatic check in machine. (Don't try printing your own, the scanners at security are very fussy). That just leaves the bag drop-off and the cabin crew who are usually quite good at their jobs.

No. Correctly stated, it is the policy of ALL airlines to hire rude, arrogant, and ignorant staff. And if they ever leave the airlines, the phone company usually hires them for their customer service skills

Ive used them to fly to Europe about 5-6 times and never again. The staff were uninterested and seemed to spend the whole flight reading magazines and stuffing their faces behind a curtain. Try South African if you get the chance wins hands down.
