Do you think Allstate is going to rebuild the interstate?
How do people live in homes without water, electricity or sewerage? If people can't move back, who is going to pay for repairs? In fact who is going to have a job at all? I really am tired of seeing people who have your attitude. Insurance doesn't cover flooding, in fact if you read your policy you are basically covered for fire and anything else is extra.
A fact no one tells you until you need them.
If you own a home your bank makes you insure it.
Sometimes a job is too big for a city or state to handle on its own, that's when the feds should step in, if nothing else than for coordination. We rebuilt Europe with the Marshall plan, we didn't whine about it and accuse people left without a dime or a job of being lazy and stupid. Its such arrogance to think it won't happen to you.

Because that is where the most power and money is. A single state cannot clean up the damage from something like Katrina, expecially when it detroys a major portion of its tax base.
I am sure there are things that your home is not insured against. Or, there are things you have government backed insurance for. If your entire community were destroyed would your private insurance money be enough to put your life back together. There are major parts of NO that still don't have power or water. That's two years later. Would your home-owners policy rebuild the power grid in your area?
It IS the federal government's job if we say it is.

I agree. Why do I have to be responsible and pay for myself, then give my money to them. When 9/11 came and my business went broke, I had to handle it. When my mother's house was destroyed by fire, we had to take care of it.
The liberals and the bums want the Fed to do everything because they want your money. They know they have the press, and that means they can impose their wants and desire on you through the federal government. Sometimes I think I would be better off in this country to just get welfare and aid.

We don't, but we also don't expect the federal government to destroy everything either. Bus has dragged the good name of the United States through the mud, and the floods, and the fires, and the bridge collapse, etc. In other words, his every action goes further to destroy the earth and the good name of democracy.
I am not saying that Bush causes the floods, fires, drunk astronauts, 300# fish that jump into boats and break bones, etc, but when these disasters occur (which is Tribulation), Bush likes to go "on location" for free photo-ops, but generally does nothing to help the victims.

I find your comments a little simplistic. But I do agree with you on the point EVERYTHING is not the responsibility of the government be it local, state, or federal. The more we are held responsible, the cheaper government is.
You may not be able to plan for everything but you can learn to roll with the punches.

The cult of the omnipotent government has taken root in the minds of liberals and conservatives. Neither side questions if government SHOULD be involved in everything, just in what way the government should be involved in everything.
Sadly, even the Republicans endorse the Marxist income tax, the fraudulent Federal Reserve System, corporate subsidies, Social Security, etc.

Man I think you are about 10 years behind current events. At this point people just want the federal government to fix something, anything.
