my doctor says she will induce me before my expected due date, since my blood group is negative, and my husband's is positive. Is this the correct procedure. I'm 39 weeks now. Thanks

This sounds odd. I was a negative, my partner a positive.
THIS is the correct way to deal with the resus factor...here's some information. There is NO NEED to induce unless there are other reasons for doing it. You need to talk to him/her.

You will need an anti-d shot if your baby is born positive.

I was induce before my due date due to me being so sick that I could not keep any food down anymore !!! No need to be worried doctor will do what is best for you and the baby. At the end of week 36 your baby is seen as full-term....

I understand the Rh- blood type etc...but what does that have to do w/ being induced? I thought that upon delivery you and baby would get your Rh injection and that would be it. Are you sure you're getting induced because of your blood type and not for something else?

it has nothing to do with your husbands blood group.
I don't know why they would induce you just because you have a rhesus negative group.
They generally give you a shot before and after baby being born(my cousin was rhesus negative)
I think there is some other factor.

i would seek a second opinion. induction isn't something that i am for unless circumstances arise that make it necessary. i have never heard of having to be induced because of the blood issue.

yes its normal to induce a lil early for this. no need to worry. you are far enough along to not have any problems :)

you should be given a shot to help your body so it will not try to fight off the baby's blood... and yeah early induction might be necessary

Well good luck, induction makes things a little easier, at least you have a little more control over when and where it happens......GOOD LUCK
