Mainly this would be when you are not going out to dinner. That seems to wet the whistle a bit.

Do you have problems trying to figure out what to prepare?

If I wasn't taking care of my Dad, I probably wouldn't cook just for myself. Grabbing a sandwich, a bowl of cereal, a peach, grapes, suit me fine.

My appetite has fallen right off compared to what it was just a few years ago. But I blame this on the fact that my arthritis prevents me from being as active as I used to be.

If you don't USE the energy, why should you crave it?

As to finding things to prepare...if I am preparing something only for myself, it is invariably a quick and easy noodle soup (which I will make using a handfull of baby shell pasta, a couple packets chicken broth, garlic, mushrooms and frozen peas, with salt and spices) that I have been making myself for years. Sometimes, if I don't have to cook for the family, it is the ONLY meal I will have in the day.

I find that making family meals for seven people often tasks my imagination, because I hate "repeating" recipes weekly. When I was a child my mother prepared the same food on the same day of the week for YEARS. When I took over cooking the family meals at age 12 (in order to allow her to devote more time to her sewing business) I hardly ever prepared those "expected" meals.

I wish, remember the question, "how many cook books do you have", well I answered 54, I am not kidding, I love to cook one of my passions, then I freeze or use whatever good thing I have concocted up for the next day or lunch and dinner. My office workers love me, I made a banana nut cake in 4 layers with icky drippy icing for a birthday person. Yes I would say but my biggest challenge is to cook with less calories and Birthday cakes do not count!!

Just me so I eat when I want, what I want. I can't eat early in the morning. I may have a sandwich for lunch, I may not. Then I will have an early dinner. That may be my only meal for the day. So then it comes does down to what do I want or feel like cooking. Varies from day to day, also depends on the weather, if it's a hot spell, I feel less like eating.

I have found that to be true. Wouldn't know it to look at me, but there are times I just don't feel hungry. Those are the nights hubby can get what he wants when he wants it and he doesn't mind that.
