In the past year or so our neighbors have decided to start blaring music with a lot of bass either in their house (with the windows/doors open), or out of their cars, or both. The cops don't care, they claim they can't do anything. Communication is not an option apparently. I thought I was above revenge, but I'm nearly at my wits end now. They're just white trash, and I totally believe in karma. But is there any other way we can deal with noisy neighbors, or should we just wear earplugs for the remainder of our time here?

In my area there are laws that speakers cannot blare music after 10 pm. However, on the weekend, no one complains or reports the offenders. If they're keeping you awake on a work night, you can report them. But if they're the type to do violence, I would keep wearing those earplugs or consider moving to a quieter location.

Sadly, there is no way for you to legally deal. I've already took the first step and were told they could do nothing.
the only way to come down on them legally is if their noise is after certain time (i.e. 10:00 pm) otherwise, tough luck!
Now you stated "remainder of our time here?" Is this a vacation spot? If so, deal until its time to back home and pray that if you decide to return to this spot, they don't.

Write letters to your local government. If the cops can't/won't do anything about it, it's probably because there are no ordinance about loud music and such. Start a petition to get it done! Give the cops something to work with...if there is a local ordinance, it'll give them a reason to deal with it.

The cops can't do anything? Move away from that area! Apparantly either the Law Enforcement Staff is crooked or your neighbors are the mob!

It usually falls under environmental policies ("noise pollution") from your local/state government - not criminal law, so the police don't care.
Get in contact with them, and they can go as far as taking court action - which the police can then enfore (though usually they'll stop it well before that)

Are they renters? If so,you might repeatedly complain to the landlord. If there is no noise ordinance then the police can't help you.

That's what u shud do, just dont do it :P, knock your neighbors door and tell them to shut up , then go a seconds time and make sue a parent is watching, tell the your gna report it to the police [make sure they dont know that the cops dont care]
I use to have a dog that barked alot, then the neighbors complained alot, I ddnt give a ****. But then, this stupid scottish neighbor complained, and my mom saw him, and then we sent the dog away before that stupid scott reported to the cops. I hat scotts!
