Hey everybody.
I got here an intel core 2 duo processor E4300 clocked at 1.80Ghz with a 800 FSB , and 2Gigs of ram (Kingston 800mhz 1GBx2). I am wishing to overclock my CPU to get more power.
As far as I know that if you want to overclock a CPU you should overclock the FSB because FSBxMultiplier=Ghz (correct me if im wrong)
I got an asus 945 mobo or something like that and I got the stock cooling fan.
How far can I go overclocking my CPU ? (with out frying up my cpu of course lol ? )

this is a short idea on how to go about overclocking.
for more detail try to google the subject. there is literally hundreds of good sites on the subject. this one titled overclocking in a nutshell is brief but to the point.

you can go as far as it is still stable. you will usually have random reboots or other strange behavior long before you will be at the point of actual damage. most people will slowly (1-3 MHz at a time) raise the fsb when they find an instability will either slightly raise the processor voltage or back off the fsb speed till it seems stable and stays at an acceptable heat. then you would stress test it using Prime95 http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft.htm
or other software that will push the CPU to 100% for an extended amount of time. be advised raising the processor voltage will create more heat. with stock air cooling heat may be your limiting factor

E4300 is a great overclocker. On the 945 chipset, it could probably do 350 fsb or 3.15Ghz.

On the 965 chipset, this is possible on air cooling:
