As far as I know perms wont hold in pregnant women and as for dying your hair that could be the same also, but if it were me, I wouldnt try it you just never know what chemicals in them and what you might absorb into your skin, Goodluck for the new bub, I hope all will go well for you!

I though the same thing when I was pregent and I talked to my OB doctor and my hair stylist and they both agreed if you keep it on for days the chemicals may do something but to get your hair colored or permed correctly will not affect the baby at all. I had my hair colored 2-3 times when I was pregent and I had a very hheath baby boy 9lb 6oz

Do you know that the correct answer is that nobody knows for sure...
Some people go ahead and dye their hair... Other people avoid it all.
The truth is that at this stage in 2007 there really has not been enough time for the outcomes of these dyes and other chemical exposures to have reared their ugly heads. - If ever they are to.
The other concept is that if any damage, such as: birth defects, cancers, allergies, etc. etc. etc... were to appear, they may skip a generation or two before they appear anyway.
On the one side I would like to know what the outcomes would be in a couple of hundred years to theses questions.
But on the other hand maybe I would NOT!!!!
There is no satisfactory answer to this, but my own motto is that you only live once, and whist you are pregnant, you wanna do whatever you can to feel the slightest bit attractive!!!!

It won't harm the baby, but changes in your hormones can cause unplanned results. Most of the time you get the results you want, but perms can fail, and color can turn out "off." I had one customer who said her color only came out the color she really loved when she was pregnant. So, there are no guarantees, either way. Try it if you are in an experimental mood. Skip it if you feel less than sure. A strand test will be a good indicator of your final results.

I think it would be safe not to do it because of the different chemicals inside the dye that we as adults are prone too. But, the fetus is weak and not able to handle chemicals as strong as those. Hold back for now. If you really want to geo check with your doctor at your next check up

I would not if I where you. I did and I had a m/c a few days later, but this is not the reason why, but you cant help but think. I did dye my hair when I was 13 weeks pregnant with my daughter.

in a book i read recently it discourages getting your hair permed because of the different texture of the hair and the extreme likelihood that it can have a bad reaction including breaking off and or falling out!! it's better to have straight hair than no hair.

I dyed my hair all the time and whn i was pregnant was no different. It didnt hurt my boys, but i had a load of trouble getting the hair dye to stay in my hair, it just faded or washed away to quick!!

Try dying a colour that is close to natural to your hair colour
