You need to call your midwife ASAP. Pick up the phone and call the after-hours emergency number if you must.
There could two things happening here. 1: your baby is just "dropping" and your cervix is stretching and thinning in preparation for labor, in which case you are okay, or 2: you are in the early stages of labor.
You need to be checked out so your midwife can tell you whether you are in labor now or in danger or going into labor too soon. Don't try to figure it out for yourself; that's what they are there for!
I gave birth at 36 weeks due to my baby's kidney problem. If you deliver this early, your baby will probably need some oxygen support but should be fine in the end. So don't panic. But your midwife can take steps to halt labor if needed, and every week closer you get to your due date is better for your baby. If it looks like you will deliver early, you can take some steroids to develop your baby's lungs faster. It will only take a day or two for them to help, so every day is critical.
Please, call your midwife now! Better safe than sorry!
Good luck - I'm sure all will turn out well for you.

your not far off now i would say your baby will be here within the next week and a half, the discomfort and pressure you are feeling is just because your baby has dropped down into your cervix in preparation for labour. As for trying to get comfortable, when you are sitting down dont sit straight up sit so you are on an angel on the chair and put a pillow in the space behind your back, this should help a bit i hope.
Congrats soon you are going to be holding your little one!

well if this is your first pregnancy the babies head can engage weeks before ie 34 weeks like mine did with my first and the sharp pains are bebacuse the babies head is pressing down on your cervix, i know they are uncomfortable but its all good signs baby is ready to come but the baby still could take a few more weeks but i dont personally think you will go over. you will see your midwife friday and she will advise on a few things! the baby will be full term at 37 weeks so you can get and do some walking to help baby on his/her way! good luck with everything xxx

sounds like you will go into labour very soon. my friend who was 38 weeks pregnant felt exactly the same yesterday and was very uncomfortable and then phoned last night to say she had gone into labour. it is nothing to worry about if you go into labour this soon as the baby should be at a healthy weight by this stage of pregnancy.
if you do go into labour in the next 24 hrs then good luck and i hope all goes well.

I think you'd go into labour pretty soon...
always put some cushion/pillow behind your back especially againts your lower back.. it wont make the pain go away but it will help not too feel the discomfort. try to sleep on your side.
Good luck, and congratulation for your baby!

This is very normal and means labor is just around the corner. Try reclining when you sit so you arent sitting straight up and down. Tylenol helps the pressure and splitting pain your pelvis is feeling too

Sometimes this does happen, and you are right. It is very uncomfortable. You will need to stretch out and rest during those times to help with the discomfort. Hang in there, soon you will have a beautiful baby to hold in your arms.
Also practice your deep breathing during those times. It will help.

hiya, its quite normal. dont worry.
very uncomfy tho. nows the time to rest as much as you can! sitting on birthing (gym) balls can really help now.
it doesnt necessarily mean labour is imminent tho. my 1st engaged at 32wks but was 9 days late. the 2nd engaged at 35wks, and was 11days late.
Good luck, and hope you have a beautiful baby in your arms soon!!
