It depends on how differently they are acting? Are they ignoring you - then slap em a bit and say hey I'm over here.
If they are treating you like crap, then flush them away.
Maybe they are dealing with a lot of stress and need some way to get rid of it; Stress can mess up a lot of relationships. If so, help them get rid of their stress.
It's all about you. Do you like the friend enough to make sure they are okay? Sometimes friends don't even know they are acting different until someone points it out to them. Not everyone is perfect. But thats what friends are for, right?

acting different how? A friend won't start acting different towards you if they were a real friend, but if they do and it isn't something that you did, then move on. I wouldn't really beat myself up over that friend because maybe they were there for a reason and now it's time that they moved on. Some people are put on earth not to be freinds but to tell us something. So go on and enjoy yourself and don't get any worry wrinkles over that person. But if you think you all are friends for real. Be there when she needs you and don't hold grudges.

If it were a real friend I would hug the person and ask her/him what is the reason for their strange behaviour?

Nothing. I certainly wouldn't want to interfere with their life in any way.

Ignore them or ask them what's going on. I dislike it when people do that though!
