My hair is naturally curly - was thinking if I had it permed before the baby was born it would be much easier to mantain, seeing I wont have the time to mess around with it!! Is there any reasons it is not recommended when pregnant?? Surely it is the same as dyeing your hair - which is ok - chemicals dont enter your blood stream therefore it cant enter the baby's!!

Mon, the chemicals in perms and coloring cannot harm your baby. But the changing hormones during pregnancy can cause unusual perm results. The most frequent result is just the same as it is when you are not pregnant. Some women do find the curl is uneven, less than expected, or more than expected.

Having naturally curly hair suggests to me that you really don't need a perm. While a baby does take more time than not having one does, you can still take the time to run a brush through your hair, or pull it up into a ponytail. You mustn't neglect your self-esteem while you are raising a family -they learn what they see.

Babies begin learning to grasp fairly early, and often grab the nearest thing in their sight -your hair. So either fairly short, or long enough to stay in a ponytail will be the most comfortable for you while your baby goes through that stage. I do allow email through my profile if you have more questions.

The chemicals alone can harm the baby, that mixed with fumes from the perm. Dyeing your hair isn't even a great idea because yes the chemicals do go through your scalp but they atleast have the more natural hair dyes no and the ones without fumes to use but Perms release a lot more chemicals and fumes.

Yes, you can permed your hair during preggo, but result is not as good as you are permed your hair before.
Having baby on your womb create extra defense to your hair to avoid any contaminated chemical things. So the permed lotion will not do the work effectively.

And also dangerous for your baby, the chemical will be absorbing by your hair and circulate into the blood which is harm your baby.

For safety reason, please do not put any chemical into your hair during your pregnancy.

Cutie is right. It's not so much a danger to you baby, but the fact that your hair changes so much when you are pregnant that the perm may well not react properly.

no you shouldn't
not because of the chemicals, but because the hormones in your body, can change the way your hair reacts to the chemicals used in a perm!

lol sounds strange i know, but i was always advised not to dye my hair in case i reacted to it, because of the change in hormones in my body

PS the chemicals can NOT harm your baby
