First parenthesis, so youre looking at 2*5^2. Thats the same as 2*5*5, which is 50. You now have -2*50^2 Then you do exponants, which gives you 2500 (50^2), then multiply by -2, which is -5000.

Whenever u come to the question involving power, u have to solve it first before doing any computation.
-2(2*5^2)^2
Here 2 rules of indices which u have to know:
i)(a*b^m)^n=a^n*b^mn
ii)(a^m)^n=a^m*n
=-2(2^2*5^4)
=-2(4*625)
=-2*2500
=-5000

* You would only need to distribute the -2 into the parenthesis if it was either (2+5^2) or (2-5^2), which is not the case.
