The Greek State (meaning all greek citizens paying taxes), commercial companies, individuals, foreign countries, offered their aid to fire victims, along with their thoughts and prayers.
Where is the aid and support from the richest foundation of Greece, among the duties of which is charity?

Tolia:
100.000 euros is just pocket-money to them.
But there are also the Monasteries that own and sell enormous properties given to them by the Ottoman Sultans...
Just to mention only one: Pendeli Monastery...

Moustafa, ofcourse Church and its Clergy became rich of continuous donations by the Ottoman Sultans, as their cooperation and faith to the regime was undoubtful (although they try to promote the opposite).
Wasn't Scholarios - Gennadios the one who actually handed the Polis to Mehmet II ?

I agree with girl24gr who said "Ntroph kai aisxos!
se autous pou tolmane na lene oti presbeoun to logo tou Theou kai kathontai na metrane ta lefta tous enw o kosmos upoferei" meaning shame on the priests and bishops who dare to claim they represent the word of God.

And speaking of the word of God i found the principles (τις αρχες στην καινη διαθηκη) written in the New Testament that unfortunately our country's church leaders failed and will fail to follow:This is why they cant help: their love of money is greater than the love of their neighbour.. Check this out:

Apostle Paul through God's inspiration writes and advises:
(1 Timothy 3:2-4) 2 The overseer (o επισκοπος) should therefore be irreprehensible, a husband of one wife, --!!--moderate in habits--!!--, sound in mind, orderly, hospitable, qualified to teach, 3 ...not a drunken brawler, .. but reasonable, not belligerent, --!!--not a lover of money--!!--, 4 a man presiding over his own household in a fine manner, having children in subjection with all seriousness;

(Hebrews 13:5) Let [YOUR] manner of life be free of the love of money, while YOU are content with the present things. For he has said: “I will by no means leave you nor by any means forsake you.”
(my comment) Is the church content with the present things or do they plan and invest and focus in growing money?do they have faith in Jesus's words that whatever happens he will not leave us or forsake us (δε θα μας εγκαταλειψει)?

(1 Peter 5:2) Shepherd the flock of God in YOUR care, not under compulsion, but willingly; neither for love of dishonest gain, but eagerly;

For me this is where i found the wrongdoing of the church. let all of us stand out and do more.

This is a problem faced by many countries. Here in England the church cries poverty, and yet they hold vast acreage of land, often selling it off to developers allow building, this makes them even richer.

They try to tell us they are poor and expect the people in their congregations to give ever larger proportions of their earnings to the church, and if they don't are made to feel guilty. Most Churches can afford to give aid when people in their area are suffering and indeed should help...

I am very sorry the people in Greece are suffering because of the fires, I hope they are give the aid they need to rebuild very soon.

Their aid support lies in their treasuries, as always. The Greek Orthodox church does never contribute anything to any disaster - except maybe some pocket money (i.e. 1999 earthquakes) and stuff collected by the people. No one expects anything from them, they are too busy with the after life.

the church will spend money for mr.christodoulos.
a woman from mitilini(lesvos)died before one month.she had exactly the same problem as christodoulos.i don't mean that she should go to Miami.they didn't even took her to Athens and she died.the church has so much money but they don't offer a single euro to the people who are in need.there are too many children dying in Greece because of poverty but no one helps them.and now the fires...where is the orthodox church?why don't they help the families who are in need?
all the money that they spend to be dressed in gold,they could offer them to the families without home,without hope because of the fires...so that they prove the meaning of the christian ism:help each other...

Do you know how much every complete ceremonial costume of theirs costs? 30.000-40.000 euros. Jesus was supposed to use a donkey. They use luxurious Mercedeses with private drivers. Indeed Agion Oros monateries own land, villages, shops, bars and hotels. Monateries like Chrisovalantou and churches like Panaghia of Tinos are richer than Bill Gates.
This must be the initiative for those who finance them to stop doing so.

Thessaloniki's Church offered -since first minute- 100.000 euro my dear

Thessaloniki's Eparch spoke on Local TV (4E)and announced his compassion and the donation of 100.000 euro to the people of Peloponnese - and I think many others did the same, just we are not completely informed about this.
Don't forget that Christodoulos is absent, facing serious problems with his health..so you understand that procedures inside Church are being slow

its better to light a candle Angele than complaining about darkness -

Sorry ,but I am very disgusted with churches these days! ALL OF THEM ! I think that the church originally was supposed to be a humanitarian effort and not a gold mine!

It's not for me to comment on this topic but it just shows I am right in not liking the Greek Orthodox Church. I still think the Ottomans did a bad thing by supporting the Greek Church, making it tax exempt and thus the richest institution in Cyprus and in Greece. All I hear from the Greek Church is hatred for others, lots of internal politics, meddling with the affairs of the governments etc. shouldn't they preach love and give to charity?
