HELP! Could i be pregnant???

hello, my doctor put me on a pill called Dianette for my acne. it also acts as a contraceptive and i began taking it on the first day of my period and then every day since at the same time. however when i had 5 pills, on the 6th day i had unprotected sex with my boyfriend who ejaculated inside me. My period was coming very near to its end. i took the pill at the same time again that day, after the sex. this was yesterday. and i am going to take mypill today again.
am i in any danger of pregnancy because i had only taken my pill for 5 days? i have heard that you are supposed to be on the pill for months before (i only heard this after- usefully..) but in the pack it says in the way i started i will have immediate contraceptive protection. please help i am scared there is a possiblity i will be pregnant :(

Yes, there is a greater chance due to the fact that the pill really has not had enough time to take its full effects. (Is all of your acne gone? No.) I would suggest going to the heath department to take the morning after-pill. It works like birth control but stronger and you may experience flu like symptoms for a 48 hour period. It is not an abortion pill but (in simple terms) will keep the egg away from the sperm. I would take it just in case. Most pregnancy test will not show in the first few days of contraception.

There is every possiblity in the world that you could be pregnant.

Not only do contraceptives not work some of the time, they usually don't start working until a month after you started taking them.

Regardless of if you are on The Pill or not, you should always use a condom if you don't want to get pregnant.

I suggest you go to the drugstore and grab a pregnancy test. Or if you want an absolute answer, see your doctor.

If worse comes to worse, you can keep it or put it up for adoption. I won't suggest abortion because I don't believe in that.

Yep, there is a big possibility. Sorry to scare you, but you need to be scared. You should be making him wear a condom. Not only that, just because you are on a new pill doesn't mean you are protected from STD's. You have to be smarter. 5 days is nothing and might not do you any good. You have to hope you are or near the very end of your cycle before your period begins. Now grow up and make him wear a condom. If he doesn't want to, tell him no sex. If he has a problem with it, break up with him. I mean it......grow up. You know the answers to these questions already but have just come on here to make yourself feel better. Even if you get 15 really nice answers on this, you could still be pregnant. What were you thinking.....I can impress my boyfriend by telling him he doesn't have to use a condom now? That's immature and you have every right to mentally suffer through this until it happens one way or the other. Next time you are in this situation and you start thinking to yourself OMG, I could get pregnant, you might do the right thing.

I think you can trust the pill directions for the particular pill you are taking more than you can trust generalizations about birth control pills that you heard from some unspecified source. However, remember that even if you take it perfectly according to the instructions at the same time every day, there is a small chance of getting pregnant anyway. If your period doesn't come when it should, take a pregnancy test, but I bet it comes right on schedule.

Most birth control pills reccomend you using a back up method for the first month before relying on the effacay. However it is probably more likely that not you were not ovulating at the time since you were on your period when you started them. However nobody can be 100% sure of that especially on yahoo answers. So at this time you probably are going to have to wait it out or contact your doctor. Which might be a good idea. Because you would not want to continue on the b/c if you are pregnant. Good luck.

Yes i wouldnt be having unprotected sex even if you have been on the pill for a year, So many women have fallen pregnant on the pill and it isnt 100% safe. Always use condoms even if you are on the pill cause you can still get pregnant, and because you have only been on the pill for 5 days there is a higher chance you could get pregnant!

to the person that said make him pull out, have your never heard of pre ***, that can cause pregnancy also. As to the sex question, when I was on the pill years ago, I still got PG with my oldest son, so the pill is not 99 percent effective.

Most birth control pills are effective right away the way you started.

They way I see it is this:

The pill is about 98% effective when taken 100% correctly.

But as a teenager, that 2% chance of pregnancy is an unnecessary risk.

If you use a condom, also, you are doubly covered. Condoms alone are 98%.

PLEASE USE CONDOMS IN ADDITION TO THE PILL!

I wouldn't worry about the pregnancy so much as I would about herpes, STD or even AIDs. What do you know about this kid's history? Don't you know condoms are for more than preventing pregnancy? You might call the doctor's office and ask to talk to his nurse and ask her what she thinks. Be more careful in the future.

Breathe!
you'll be okay
if the pack says it will have immediate protection then you're fine.
If you want more reassurance, call your doctor
The only thing you have to worry about is if your boyfriend has any STDs.
