I recently visited Orlando, Florida, and I liked it and had plenty of fun, but they weren't my type of crowd.
what are the crowds like in Kansas city, Mo?
For example:
Are they New Yorkers' real "out spoken", or real proud cocky people, or " if your not from here, you don't belong here", type of attitude, are they a welcoming type of crowd?
let me know?
I'm not trying to upset anybody from Florida, it's just an opinion.

People in K.C. are very polite. However, to get into the "inner-circle" it takes a while, unless you are a native. K.C. is kind of a melting pot for the midwest. But, until you can earn people's trust, and "show" them the type of person you are, people may be a bit guarded...afterall the state is known as the "show-me state".
K.C. surprisingly has a very urban feel.... people move there from all over the midwest...as it is the largest city for miles...people from Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, etc...all come there at one time or another...there is a vibrant arts community, great museums, live theater, excellent eateries, etc... BBQ and steak are excellent there. The city is fairly liberal in politics and attitude. Of course, the suburbs and smaller, surronding towns are not so liberal.
The music scene that K.C. is best known for is Jazz....visit the 18th and Vine district which has museums dedicated to Jazz. There are numerous jazz bars throughout the city. Of course, like most any other city, you can find music of any genre.
If visiting definitely check out the Country Club Plaza, and the great architecture of the older neighborhoods south of the Plaza...it is beautiful...they have done an excellent job on concentrating a lot of money on the parks and boulevard systems....Anyway, if interested in K.C....give it a chance...you will find the people friendly and polite, and if you stick it out for a year or so, you will find yourself with many sincere friends.
I lived in K.C and surronding areas for most of my life...and now live in Dallas...I miss K.C. a lot.
Hope that helps.

Well everyone else stole my answers. Especially G.C.... he gets an A+. Um... my family has lived all along the eastern sea board -- Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, South Carolina, Florida, and Ohio. We moved to KC 8 years ago and love it! We loved south carolina the most and my dad got offered a transfer to go back there but he declined. The people in KC are just so nice and fun. There is so many different types of people, you will be able to find your glitch. There is all sorts of different carnivals and fests and whatevers.. and its just great. Kansas City is like any other place -- there are bad parts but really, its not very big and they are starting to get it better in control (hey st.louis is rated the most dangerous city -- so its nice to know kc is safer lol). Kansas City is known for its jazz but we have lots of R&B and hip hop and country and oldies concerts. They are finishing the new sprint center (where a lot of the concerts will be he held) and that should help spruce up our downtown. Theres tons of cool restraunts and places too visit. Best places to get BBQ (since we are known for it) -- Fiorellas Jack Stack and Arthur Bryants.
Anyway, we felt VERY welcomed and we love it here. We have met so many nice people and all the areas surrounding the actual KC are just awesome.
Hope you enjoy it!

Most people in Kansas City are very nice. In every part of KC it's different though..some places like the Plaza are of course the upscale neighborhoods and shops so the people can be very cocky.
Then there are the suburbs like Overland Park and the people there are very nice and friendly. Parts of KC, however...just stay away from. You get that in every city..but KC is pretty notorious for shootings/killings/robberies. If you stay in the suburbs or in North KC you should be okay.
Suggestions if you do come here:
-Check out Crown Center and Barry Road
-Have dinner at least one time at Arthur Bryant's BBQ
-Check out Union Station
-Go to a show at the Starlight Theatre or see the American Royal

Given that it's in the middle of the country, KC is pretty diverse. You have suburbs, ghettos, urban areas and eclectic pedestrian neighborhoods. There are plenty of white folks, black folks, Latino folks, Asian folks, etc. It's not a first-tier city like NY or LA, but then it's not trying to be. It has big city options but the people here still have small town friendliness. I've been all over the country and I can say that every place has its good and its bad. KC, if you make an effort to get acquainted, is as great a place to live as anything out there.

I moved here from Denver (which is Western in attitude) to KC. The people here are friendly, polite, and helpful but a little guarded. They are more than willing to be friends but it takes a while to get into the "inner circle".
The music scene here is one of the best in the country. Our jazz is second to none and we have other venues that range from R&B, country, rock, hip-hop, funk, blues, alternative, etc.
Depending upon your age there are different parts of the city that you would probably enjoy more than others. If you are a 20-30 something, Westport would most likely be your choice depending upon what type of music you enjoy.
Hope this helps and welcome to Kansas City!!

Have to agree with all above, especially the first one.
I grew up in KC and now live in San Diego. KC has much more to offer in many ways. Art, food, quality of life and people. Yeah, we have the beach but it isn't all it's cracked up to be. KC is a very nice place to live - except in January. Too cold for me.

kansas city is considered one of the friendliest cities in the US. you can easily go out and find some people to talk to. the music scene is heavy on rock and blues, and in my opinion is excellent.
