30x + 2 = 5x
25 x = - 2
x = - 2 / 25
At this stage, I feel the question should read:-
(3x + 1) / 5 = x / 2
2(3x + 1) = 5x
6x + 2 = 5x
x = - 2
PS
Remember to use brackets to avoid confusion!
You will note from the many different answers obtained, that you have indeed caused great confusion!

3x + 1/5 = x/2 write down the given
the subtract 3x from both side
1/5 = -5/2x this is what you get because (1/2)x - 3x = (-5/2)x
then divide 1/5 by (-5/2)...or if you like just multiply 1/5 by (-2/5) ...that's the reciprocal of (-5/2)
then you'll get -2/25 = x

3x + 1/5 = x/2
30x/10 + 2/10 = 5x/10
30x + 2 = 5x
30x - 5x = -2
25x = -2
x = -0.08

first cross multiply
2(3x+1/5)=x
6x+2/5=x
collect like terms
6x-x=-2/5
5x=-2/5
again cross multiply
25x=-2
then x=-2/25
thanks
