Seriously, did people used to be more romantic ? Or have we absorbed this idea from too many movies ? Perhaps in the past, life was more about surviving so there was less time for romance anyway ?

The old style of romance when our grandparents were around, I think is dead. But a new kind of romance I think exists nowadays!

Not at all, I still get flowers and wine bought for no apparent reason. Have candlelit dinners and go away for nights in hotels at the drop of a hat.

No, it just takes a bit of effort & imagination! The simplest of things can be very romantic. I think most people just can't be bothered.
