is chimaira hardcore or metal?

they have some heavy riffs and the sound of them is very abbrassive but something keeps telling me that they're not really metal. what do you think?

They are, indeed, true metal.

I saw them while they were with "Sounds Of The Underground" tour and they sounded more metal to me.

they're actually considered as hardcore, nu-metal and groove metal!!! i love them anyway!!
