PLEASE DON'T ANSWER TRASH IF YOU KNOW YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ANTHROPOLOGY
-THANKS!
allright, we're going to have a quiz soon, but I still don't get it. My punk Anthro teacher said this will be a quiz question. During the discussion, I only got confused, and she said that the 4 sub-disciplines of Anthro is the answer for that question. These are the 4 sub-dis: Archeaology, Bio, Cultural, Linguist. ,
So, how do I make a connection bettween these things to answer what it's like to be human?
thanks!

As adults we have AGENCY - we play an active part in
our destiny and are RESPONSIBLE for our actions. We use RATIONALITY and PLAN
AHEAD. Communication and language are, of course, an essential backdrop to this, but are far from being the whole story our brains have provided us with unique abilities such as the ability to ABSTRACT and to invent SCIENCE and MORALITY. They have taken us to every corner of our planet and beyond. Because we ADAPT OUR ENVIRONMENT rather than adapt TO it, we are a uniquely successful type of being. Yes, we are OBJECTS of nature as any animal is, but we are also SUBJECTS who make choices and ACT for REASONS.

that's what I think it make us humans

good luck with the quiz

NO species is truly monogamous. Even various birds and other species that 'mate for life' actually do not. Both the male and female partners have other partners 'on the side'. However, in experiments such as communes, where there were not supposed to be any pairs, where it was intended to be all open and free love and no commitment, it was found that invariably people did pair up. It was not for life, of course, but more of a 'serial monogamy' type of situation. This is more natural to the species, to be with one partner for a number of years. Biologically this is so that a child could be raised through infancy and early childhood, till it was relatively independent and did not need both parents for support. Lifetime monogamy is a religious viewpoint. That doesn't make it wrong, but if you don't follow that, that isn't wrong either. Whether you personally believe in polygamy or serial monogamy or open relationships or whatever, that is your choice. The key is honesty. If you don't want to commit to one person, don't tell that person that you will. I personally want lifetime commitment and monogamy, in my belief that is what marriage is about. I don't want to share my husband, he doesn't want to share me, and we plan to grow old together. I personally feel that is the ultimate happiness, the best way to live your life. But I also have a fantastic man who is the perfect husband for me, so we have a very happy relationship. Many people don't have the right partner, or the will to sacrifice and be selfless in a committed relationship, or the drive to make it work (it is hard work), or the desire to stick it out through the rough times. That's okay, but the problem is too many folks like that end up getting married because society or family pressures them to do so, and then they end up miserable and/or divorced. I do feel that children should ideally be raised in a two person family, with two parents who love each other and are committed to each other. I think this gives kids a solid background, a good upbringing in a loving family. They need to see that people can disagree but work through problems together, can get upset at each other but still love each other and so on. That's just my opinion.

There is a definite answer. It use to be the use of tools but a monkey watching woman disproved that one. It should be in your book. Sorry, I have been out of school for a while but keep with with the news but have missed out on new definition. Good luck.

USE OF TOOLS WOULD INDEED BE A REQUISITE. WE ARE THE MOST ADAPTIVE CRITTERS ON THE PLANET. WE HAVE ALSO BEEN DESCRIBED AS THE ANIMAL THAT IS ABLE TO LAUGH AT ITSELF. SPEAKING OF WHICH, LIGHTEN UP A BIT. AMMO FOR LAUGHTER HAS IT'S PLACE EVEN WHEN DEALING WITH SCIENCE. BELL INVENTED THE TELEPHONE JUST TO BE ABLE TO CALL UP A FRIEND AND TELL A JOKE OR TWO.
