ok well, I'm just entering grade 12 and have decided that I want to go to law school after high school. Finally, I have come to a conclusion. haha, it took me forever to figure out what I wanted to do. But I have a problem, I don't know what kinds of high school courses I should take in my last year at high school. I don't know what classes you are expected to have before entering law school. I don't exactly know what I want to study when I enter law school but I know for sure I don't want to do anythign else besides go to law school. Altogether, I have to take 8 classes. So far, the mandatory classes I am taking are Eng 12, Art 10( I need a fine arts credit). Other than that, I have a void of 6 spaces to fill. So sorts of grade 12 classes do you think I should take in my last year at high school. Oh, also I wanted to let you know that I do have law 12. I took it in grade 11. So please tell me every class you think I need to take in order to get into law school. Thanks.

You need a four year degree.

If you're in the US, then law school comes after a 4-year degree -- and what you take in High School won't really matter.

English and writing is always going to be important -- expressing yourself is critical to an attorney. Other than that, just concentrate on doing well and getting good grades.

US Law schools don't even look at what courses you took in high school -- and often it doesn't even matter what courses you take in college (though that varies). What's most important is good grades.

Law schools take into consideration your collegiate record, far more than high school, in addition to scores on the LSAT.
You need to major in pre-law or political science in college.
Round out your high school education with history, political if possible. Broaden your knowledge base as much as possible. Take subjects you in which you can excel and maintain a high-grade point average as well.
My son's high school career was barely a factor when he scored so high on the LSAT the law schools came looking for him. He graduated with summa c um laude honors as well from his university. Grades are paramount.

Typically you need a four-year degree before you go to law school. Discuss your classes with your high school counselor to plan the best approach to help you get accepted to a college with a good pre-law program.

Economics, sociology, psychology, math, writing and reading-type courses are all helpful to take in your final year of high school. Just try to keep your curriculum well-rounded with an emphasis on analytical thinking, reading comprehension and writing skills. Good luck!
