If you drive a manual transmission as it was designed to be driven and not rev it out all the time, the manual transmission will get the best mileage. There is a loss of torque between the engine and an automatic transmission. This results in increased use of fuel.

A properly driven manual transmission will get slightly better gas mileage than an auto on the same vehicle. The difference is minimal, 1-4mpg, usually. But the problem is, most people with manuals like to rev it higher than called for, therefore hurting their fuel consumption.

Hello:

When is the same model. There is a little bit difference. With Manual Cars , you are able to save gas,the gears , with automatic, is only one gear D . On a Highway it could be the same (if you maintain a constant speed). Inside a city , it's the speed and the driver's manners.

a manual trans can be better on gas depending on how you drive it. i drive a standard. i can control the car better. if you rev it up high then you will spend more on gas. you also downshift to slow down rather than using your brakes which means that your pads and rotors will last longer.

Nope--it is all the driver and how he drives either standard or automatic. Some people are lousy at both
