"The organs of the digestive system can be separated into two main groups: (1) those of the alimentary canal and (2) the accessory organs. The alimentary canal , also called the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, is the continuous, muscular digestive tube that winds through the body. It digests food - breaks it down into smaller fragments and absorbs the digestive fragments through its lining into the blood. The organs of the alimentary canal are the mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine and large intestine. The large intestine leads to the terminal opening, or anus." It's a rather meaningless question, since it depends solely on who is defining the digestive system. The large intestine does perform some functions that can properly be called digestion. It's not something worth worrying about.

Actually, the digestive system ends at the Sigmoid Colon.

The colon. The intestines are still "processing" the food. A completely different activity starts at the colon; storage of the waste products.
