To upgrade your ram by yourself you have to remove the keyboard. If your under warranty don't do it yourself. Go to best buy or a licensed professional. But it is still an easy process just have patients. The two screws behind your LCD will get you started. Your computer is upgradeable to 1GB of ram. Here the Kingston part # KTD-INSP5150/1G. Ok, the removable ram that you found is actually the upgradable one.
There is also another chip thats non-removable under the keyboard.
The removable one can be upgraded all the way up to a 1 gig chip, for a total of 1256 meg (1.2 gig) of memory.

sell this computer and buy a new one. when every buying a new one make sure that the new one can be upgradable. and why do u simply need more than 256 mb ram.

All are using RAM and CPU even if your not using that program.
Most of these do not need to run at start-up.
Yahoo messenger, Nero, Quicktime, Realplayer, Power DVD, etc

If that's the really the case, you are down with luck pal. There is no just no other way to upgrade your PC's memory.
If it is removable, at least you still can swap it with a 1 GB RAM.
