Congratulations -:)
No, your degree is not worthless. What you accomplished is great. It's too bad that the people around you can't seem to understand this, but try your best not to let it get to you. I know that is easier said than done.
As soon as you can, buy a frame for your diploma and hang it up. Also, make sure you've got some graduation pictures. This is YOUR accomplishment, so enjoy it. Again, congratulations.

I'm going to be a little challenging with this answer.
You're an adult now, so what needs to matter is what makes YOU feel fulfilled and accomplished. It's emotionally dangerous to base the importance of things on the recognition you receive from your parents, or anyone else for that matter. Recognition from others is always nice, but is that what will matter for the rest of your life?
We do a lot of thankless work in our lives. We do many things that go unrecognized by others. What's important is that we pursue the things that give us our own internal sense of gratification.
If you're not sure what I'm talking about there, I sincerely believe you might be able to talk with some sort of therapist about the way you're feeling.
And oh yeah... congratulations. You deserve that excitement, pride and joy.

Congratulations on your BA! No, your education is not worthless; it is just that you happen to have parents who do not appreciate it. You said that they didn't really recognize your high school diploma, so it just sounds like education is not something they personally care about. Your problem is that you are measuring your value by other people's reactions to you. You are excited, and you know that what you did was a great accomplishment. It is a sign of determination and persistence, along with achievement of a goal. That is something to be very proud of, and I'm sure it will help you in the job market. Your parents are either the type who don't get excited about anything, or education is just not their thing. The sooner you stop trying to please them and work to please yourself, the happier you will be.

It is not worthless because you put in five years of hard work and it is a big accomplishment. You should be proud. I'm sorry your parents don't see that. It sounds like you have parents that aren't impressed by anything and I know that is so hard because you want them to be proud, but maybe they just won't be. Still, that shouldn't stop you from taking pride in your accomplishments. Congratulations!

your degree is so much worthy and precious one. because you took 5yrs for getting degree that means you did best job. who say it's worthless? even though you did something badly to your parents but i don't feel it's bad thing. you just wanted to attract from parents intimacy. it's natural thing for children. Don't suspect of that. you are great human. ^^; cheers~!
