It sounds corny don't it but if I were and if they wanted me in the group to take care of The President of The United States the answer ha to be YES that is the job of the people that guard the President.
The job does not stop there, but the Military People are also under the same, but it is an Order to safeguard the President.
There may not or may be a law about civilians on the subject, but any true red blooded AMERICAN should fill the same.
Like him or not REMEMBER HE IS OUR PRESIDENT. I have disliked many President's but it is our DUTY to PROTECT THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
Thanks for the question.

being a bodyguard you have to be alert and on top of things. You are always going to assume that the president, mayor, Governor, or whoever will get shot. They are the most hated. Thank God we haven't got an assassination attempt sense Reagan. Would I take the bullet? no because I don't want to be a bodyguard. But if I was yes I would because that is my job. To protect the president or any politician.

President is a symbol of unity for a country. He is an elected representative trusted with a very important responsibility to serve his country and people.
Irrespective of his character he must be protected till he is at his legitimate designated post.
It is not a choice with anyone to undertake or refuse such a responsibility.
Those supposed to do it are well trained, invested a lot by the Nation and must perform their duties religiously even if they have been assigned to guard a President like Bush.
National duty has to be performed with full sincerity and pride.
Even if the President has been a bad selection, it has been people's choice. Bear with him till he is in chair, guard him till next elections and vote him out at the right time.

If it were my job and my sole duty, and I actually were in the Secret Service, then yes.
It is really sad and pathetic to read the responses that say they wouldn't take a bullet to save another human's life. Oh, and the question doesn't ask specifically about Bush, it says A president, not THE president.

The bodyguard of the President must always be alert because there is always a threat for assassination.

I knew a Marine who was assigned to Ronald Reagan, he loved that job and the President. RR was quite a gentleman. Treated everyone with respect as apposed to what I have heard about Bill and Hill the Hillbillies of Arkansas.
I just heard a die hard Hillary supporter on the radio this morning who is now a die hard Obama supporter because of how callously the Klintons and their handlers treated volunteers.

Maybe ;)
I think it's very exciting to be a bodyguard to a president but also very very dangerous and responsible!

No I wouldn't apply for that job. If someone else wants to be secret service, then they're better suited for the position. I'd rather be the one writing about it after the fact. Now if the president was one of my family I'd certainly 'turn into a bear' and protect him or her.

That's what their trained, and paid to do. They do an excellent job too except for one or two slip ups.
I'm glad that it's not my job.
