which do you stand for? I support gun rights. I believe guns aren't the problem. But I would like to hear from other angles and perspectives.

As a member of The N.R.A. I am with you. There are too many cases of crooks breaking in to homes even when people are at home. In our town it takes the Police time to answer a call because most of them are already on another call. Police can't guard every home 24/7 and that would be crazy. I am against guns being used to scare people or commit a crime. Like I said COPS can't do it all.

Okay lets apply the "fitness" clause to all our rights. I for one think that most of the mainstream media should have to pass a test to show that they have proficient knowledge on a subject before they can report on it.

You should also have to be tested to make sure you have a full understanding of religion and deities before you can exercise your freedom of religion.

You should also have to prove that you fully understand all the issues and where every candidate stands on each issue before you are allowed to vote.

Should I keep going?

Don't get me wrong, I think that anyone who owns a gun should know safe gun handling, but this thing of some government official determining who deserves to get one and who doesn't kind of rubs against the grain.

Guns are not the problem. The ethics, morals and values of the person holding gun, (knife, ball bat, steering wheel, etc) are the problem. Just today I read a story claiming that in the US there are 9 guns for every 10 people. Gun control only affects the law abiding as they are the only ones who will obey gun control laws.

Gun control, the solution of the simple minded.

Americans tote guns because they're assertive, self-reliant citizens, not docile subjects of a permanent governing class. At dinner in Paris a couple of years ago, I was asked about "this American sickness with guns."

Americans have guns," I said, "because a lot of Americans like having guns."

My host scoffed. "A lot of people here would like to have guns too. But they don't"

"Exactly." I said.

I am a hunter and I like to have guns. I currently have two shotguns, one rifle, one black powder. I do not own a handgun yet but I plan on getting one later.
If they took away my guns, I would have to chase the deer down with my car---that's no way to hunt now is it?
Gun control laws will not work anyway. Is it not illegal to have drugs?

I don't believe that attempting to control guns will help.

I personally think that anyone who wants to own or use a gun should be required to demonstrate that they understand basic safety requirements, and that they are capable of handling such a dangerous implement safely -- no different than learning to drive a car and demonstrating safe operation.

After that, punish people who use guns to commit crimes. And punish them more if they aren't licensed/certified (as above). But don't punish people if nothing happens.

The Second Amendment assures of this right. Why do you want to hear from "other angles and perspectives"? There are none that are valid.

Also, the Second Amendment is not about hunting.

Gun Rights.
The Second Amendment was originally intended to
guarantee that we are listened to when we exercise our rights under the First.
('Federalist Papers` - Look it up.)
Certain 'Pol.s` are getting uneasy about that.
I guess they're planning something that will really piss us off.
It's not, and never was, about sport.
