Because a Private University can choose not to let a professor rewrite history, you think there isn't freedom of thought and democratic values?

Any private business whether educational or not, has the option to decide who to hire and fire.

No, most actually don't.

The concept of freedom has been largely abandoned in the US because it requires too much effort to maintain.

But the news article you cite has nothing to do with freedom of thought -- it's about a professor who was sacked because the school considered him disruptive in how he taught. Specifically, that his "unprofessional personal attacks divert the conversation away from consideration of ideas".

As for democratic ideals -- democracy is all about might makes right -- majority rule. The majority opposed this professor. The majority won. That's democracy in action.

There is no freedom of thought on the left in this country. That's called being "divisive".
On the left, there are no values, other than in an election year.
YOU WILL OBEY.

Americans are not free. Censorship runs VERY strong in the states. It's really sad that they don't see how much that they cannot see until they go to other countries like Canada.

Please do not confuse the term "Americans" with the decisions and opinions of De Paul University.
Yes, Americans do believe in freedom of thought and democratic values.
De Paul, on the other hand, believes in covering their a$$ and avoiding any conflict or confrontation with Alan Dershowitz or any other legal litigation that might cut into their profits.
