I think you mean the Malleus Malifacarum, but it was more about torture and other dreadful ways to try to get an accusation, than about torture of the accused, I think. They were just hung or burnt at the stake.

I think it was called "Malleus or Maleous Malefacorum", which I think means Hammer of God, or something like that.
It was actually more of a book on how to identify witches, unfortunately some of the methods amounted to what we would consider torture. I guess it was sort of a "how to" manual for witch hunters.

The others have it right, but though it was primarily used on women it was also used on men and children. It was used to get confessions and to get the accused to name others so the cycle of torture and killing would go on and on. However, it was never sanctioned by the church. It was originally published in Germany.
