for example, I am currently in college, as are several other people...and Ialthough I am 21, I have yet to have an opportunity to learn to drive, and am unsure when or if I will. But like for instance when I die, is anyone going to look back and say "this person went to college" or "this person was/was not able to drive?" Most likely not. With that said, why do people really even do things like going to college or learning to drive? It may be that they want to get a good job, or be able to drive themselves around, but the fact is that none of this will make any difference once they are gone. Unless you are famous it is unlikely that anyone outside of your family/friends will even know that you went to college or any of that. So it is basically like we are putting ourselves through all of that stress...for what? Would it not be so much easier to just lead a simple life and not worry about doing so many stressful things like going to college that nobody will remember or even know we did?

Hi Erica,

I really like your question. It looks very sincere. I gave it a star.

Most people, as you have done, look to the praise and opinion of others to judge their own worth. You are concerned with other people knowing what you did on earth or even that you ever existed.

Yet people praise us for what we do and not who we are inside. Only those who love us will see our worth as independent of what we accomplish. Love is the supernatural "thing" that gives real worth (and therefore real meaning) to our lives.

I think that God created us to love Him and to find our purpose and meaning in that love. As a Christian I am commanded to love my neighbor as myself. In my attempts to do so, God has engineered experiences that show who He is. Where love is, there God is also.

Martin Luther was once asked what he would do if he knew that the world would soon end. He replied that he would just continue to work in his garden; the same simple, unstressed life style you spoke of. The love of God will abide when nothing else survives.

theres no point really (longterm) just short term.
you need to go to college in order to get a good career and make money so you can be happy while you live.

you dont drink wine for the hangover, you drink for the beginning and middle.

you cant always look at things like "theres no point"

"hey want an apple"
"no thanx, it'll be a core eventually"
