I suffer from depression, lack of concentration/focus/memory. I basically want a better brain/mind/emotional health (also tired a LOT). When I get down, I get really down, like very hopeless. I hate that feeling. Also I am about to start some college courses and noticed I just can't concentrate or retain any of the information. I have to make this work. Is there one good combo or do I need to get a whole bunch seperately? I've tried St johns wort, I've noticed I get a little calmer and sleepy but nothing major. Any recommendations? I am looking for Natural remedies please, I've been on RX and the side effects were horrible. Thanks

I'm sorry to say that any herbal remedy for depression will make you drowsy. You can try Valerian Root, which is good for nerves, a low dosage might work and may not cause too much drowsiness. St. John's Wort is the best one but like Valerian Root, it's best to take it at night only.

Ginseng and Gingko help with memory and mental alertness. Make sure you only take Panax Ginseng, the others are fakes that the companies are calling Ginseng but they're not.

So, you can try a low dosage of Valerian Root, Panax Ginseng and Gingko Biloba, low dosage of each if you're going to take all three.

Good luck :)

Depression may be due to a lack of amino acids. You may look into an herbal remedy called 5HTP. I'd consult a natural/homeopathic doctor to do some testings to make sure that you're lacking amino acids before taking this.

Valerian roots are known for helping with insomnia. I haven't heard that it's helpful for depression.

Good luck!

I use High Complex B vitamins - Letchin -and L-Tyrosine morning and mid afternoon to keep an elevated mood.
I also eat "Happy Foods"
Turkey, chicken, fish, lots of raw or lightly steamed veggies.

I also removed the "bleach" from the house. I rarely use it anymore. It is a major cause of depression.

I have been prescription drug free for 14 years.

Since you've tried St. Johns Wort (which was my first choice0, you might want to try Ginko Biloba and some Bee Pollen..... If you're on any 'brain' meds, you won't be able to mix.
