i's really ratehr try and just drop it out the bottom and not have to take the motor out. before i do anything i'd like to know.

it can be done through the bottom, but unless you have the patience of a saint it will be a whole lot easier to remove the engine, this way you can also check to see what else might need attention. and id love to see some pics of the eclipse if you dont mind, up to you

It can be done that way with a bunch of cussing and anguish. Lots of luck getting the bearings in right. Trying to hold that crank up and hook and line all the rods back up and keep the bearings all from falling out and there isn't enough room for the six pairs of hands you need under there to do all that. I did it once and since then I just pull it out. Once you get in there there's no telling what else you'll find and may have to pull it anyway. Been there done that. But once was enough.

It's easy to replace the bearings one set at a time once the oil pan is off. Your problem will probably be that the crankshaft is damaged and will need regrinding. Why are you changing the bearings?
