Coragryph: Normally, I'd agree, but he has gone on record as being opposed to gay marriage. And cloture is a common way of trying to force legislation through when its opponents aren't present to vote against it.

expat: It's not illegal to be gay. It's illegal to try to solicit sex in a public restroom.

It's hilarious.

What's even funnier, is the people he represented are the ones he betrayed and they are the ones defending him here.

I don't get republicans anymore.

No -- one has nothing to do with the other.

Even if he is gay (assuming for sake of argument), he may still hate the homosexual lifestyle enough to want to punish people who are gay by denying them the same basic fundamental rights that anyone else is entitled to have.

Self-hatred is not uncommon, either in politicians or in those who are prejudiced against minorities.

Besides, voting for cloture just means bringing it forward to a vote -- it's a procedural step that may be independent of his actual views on the amendment itself.

Two words....Jim McGreevey. Whether you support "gay marriage" or not, McGreevey is skeevy and is an embarrassment to the Democratic party, just as Craig is to the Republican party.

The hypocrisy is with Craig, not the Republican party. Many top Repubs such as Romney and McCain have spoken out against Craig.

I don't find it amusing that this Larry Craig who was ratted out by the liberal watchdog MoveOn is being dragged all thru the media just giving the whole world one more strike against the country! It isn't like there are no gay democrats in office. And how is this doing anything but splitting the country even more? And how do liberals who are for gays find this so bad?

If I didn't find that amendment so repugnant I would be amused. Leave it to a closeted Republican to commit the ultimate hypocrisy while he's trying to add discrimination to the Constitution. Amazing isn't it?

Yes, and I'm also amused by him calling Clinton a "bad boy".

It's the hypocrisy, Brianne. The hypocrisy.

I don't get the democratic party gay thing,

Didn't every Democrat candiate stand up at the Gay Debate Forum and say, that they were all against Gay marriage?

Now, if they are all against gay marriage, why would it matter to them, if a republican was , also?

It should not amuse that you live in a country that dictates to adults which other adults they can have sex with..
