Most likely, you aren't depressed. When you start getting into your early teens, your body goes through some major changes that affect your moods and emotions. Sometimes this takes you on a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows, ups and downs. Alot of teens go through these mini-depressive states, so it is nothing abnormal at all. Here are some things to try...
Find a new hobby, get out and about, try something new and talk to some new people.
Treat yourself to a day at the spa.
Try to inventory when you are feeling sad, is it a certain time of day?
Try to figure out the root of your sadness and attack that.
If none of these work, you should definitely talk to your rents or maybe a teacher or counselor. Let them know how you are feeling and see what they tell you to do about it. Just don't take, "Oh that's normal..." for an answer, get some help if you need it.
Hope this helps and hang in there! When you are at the bottom, you have nowhere to go but up! :-)

Well dont be scared its something alot of people go through. It does sound like depression to me which is very common. I am not a doctor so I cant diagnose thats what it is. I have depression myself, I cry constantly for no reason, get panic attacks, and have a hard time sleeping. Writing in a journal can help, aerobic exercise is a natural anti-depressant, and maybe you should talk with your school counselor or someone to get you some help. It may be your hormones but obviously something is bothering you. Just know that nothing is permanent and you will get through this and be a stronger person.

Yes, it's normal for 12 year olds to feel sad for no reason. Most likely, it is your hormones. You are approaching puberty, and now is the time to hop on the roller coaster. At least you have the self awareness to know what's going on. It would be unfair to tell you to just deal with it. I was 12 once, so here's a few suggestions: confide in someone (preferrably older and who doesn't go to school with you, like a big sister, mentor, family friend, relative, etc.) whom you trust to share your feelings with. Always have a backup buddy in case something drastic were to happen (death, relocation).
Also try expressing your feelings with a creative outlet such as artwork or writing. It's much more constructive than just moping all day. Plus, you'll feel like you accomplished something, even if you hate your work. Just the satisfaction of knowing you completed an important task.
Also try meditative walks in nature. No music, no distractions. Just you and the world around you. Take in your surroundings and let the beauty of it aid in clearing your head. Since you are so young, I'd advise you to go with your mom. Use this as an oppurtunity to bond with her. It will help her understand you and your feelings. Maybe she'll be able to relate with you and help you more than I could.
BUT, if you start harming yourself or others, SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP!!!!! By then, it's more than just puberty and fvcked off hormones.
Just know that this hormone rush will slow down before you know it. In the next 12 years, you might just look back and laugh at the awkwardness of this phase in your life. I know I did (except for certain parts, but that's a whole different ball game).

Hormones can do strange things, including making us sad and weepy.
Then we get worried, and that makes us more sad, then the horemones kick in again!
Talk to your Mother. Chances are you just need a hug and reassurance that being sad and weepy for no reason can sometimes be normal.
If it doesn't get better after your chat, let your Mother know. You may be sufferring true depression. This is a disease that needs proper diagnosis and treatment.
Don't just keep on feeling sad.
