Because liberals will use these statistics to say there is a problem and that many guns is a crime against humanity. There are those on the left who believe that the mentally ill should not own a gun and anyone who wants to own a gun is mentally ill. Not all libs believe this way but the ones who do pour a lot of money into taking guns away. And their com padres really do nothing to stop them. Clinton made a big speech about how messed up America was after a lot of the reps who voted the brady bill in got voted out, I doubt the party stance has changed.

Actually, nobody wants to take away their silly little toys, especially if they make them less afraid .... But heaven forbid that any government ... excuse me: "Guv'ment" entity attempt to put any reasonable regulations on a deadly weapon, that becomes even more of a danger in the hands of the fanatical and insecure.

NRA fanatics are just pawns. The Republican administration, through the NRA feeds their single-minded fear during election years in order to secure their votes... then the Republicans turn around and fully support the rich on wall street during the non-election years ... often to the detriment of the rural and farm communities.

They're just mad because the federal government banned the usage of automatic weapons. (Remember Stockton California? 1988-89? Nut comes in--kills a bunch of kids with automatic weapons?)

They equate that to "losing their rights" to own weapons of any kind.

Hence their continued blame of liberals and Democrats trying to take away their guns.

Don't get me wrong, there are a few things that I agree with libs on. I also agree with some feminists things, like their belief that women degrade themselves when they parade around scantily dressed.

The Bill of Rights grants us the right to keep and bear arms. "Bear" means "carry." We are already forbidden to carry arms in most places. While we still have the right to "keep" guns, there are many people on the left who are trying to figure out a way to rob us of that. They haven't succeeded yet, but it doesn't stop them from trying.
