Take a drive out to the Cliff House. The food is great, the views are fabulous and he can have a blast looking at the ruins of the Sutro Baths and the seals. If he's curious like most 14-year-olds, he'll also find the Camera Obscura and Holographic Gallery fun, as will the adults!

Any reason is a good reason to go to Yank Sing in downtown for their dim sum. It may be a unique experience for him, too.

It's a classier restaurant; and, the food is higher quality for the business district (not inside Chinatown). And, is not far from a local movie theater.

I highly recommend the soft-shell crab; and, wonton soup balls.

If you want to be elaborate and have plenty of elbow room, try the Palace Hotel's restaurant up the street. The layout is immaculate (i.e., palacial); and, the hotel staff is used to people taking pictures.

If he likes meat I would take him to Balboa. They have great food, and it has a rich, old feel to it that might be neat for him.

Trader Vics, or Tonga room are fun-Especially when it rains and thunders at Tonga.

If he is adventurous take him for dim-sum and sample a little of everything from the cart.

If you're looking for more of a family atmosphere try a good chain like Benihana, Bucca di Beppo or PF Changs.

Or be a tourist for a day and go to Aliotos, and then head to Pier 39 and Ripleys Belive it or Not....
