You could always walk up to the teacher before class starts and tell her the correct pronunciation. She understands and it's embarrassing to her tosay something wrong.

Good luck!

Wow! That's a lot of hate! This sounds more like a rant than a dilemma! haha. Well first of all, relax!! Haha, it's not the end of the world. You're gonna be okay I promise. Be glad that you're not going back till tomorrow too! I went back last week.
As for attendance and your last name, everone butchers my last name too. It can be a little annoying, but personally I just anticipate it and then I correct them mid-stumble. It makes me sound good, and gives the teacher a hand.
Lastly be PROUD of your last name! If you go around convincing yourself that you hate your last name then you most certainly will, but if you learn to love it then it won't be a problem.
Go in there tomorrow, and when your name comes up say it in a loud clear confident voice with a grin on your face and no one will dare laugh.
I hope this helps!!

My sister's last name is Smallwood. Really!

My first name always got butchered too (Stacia : stay - shuh). You learn to live with it but it sucks. You can write it out like you did above, hand it to the teacher ahead of time with a short note saying you get embarrassed when it is pronounced incorrectly, and were hoping to be helpful to her as well. That way, she doesn't have to remember anything, can just refer to it (and hopefully keep it for later in the year).

Good luck! (:

Try to get to class first and tell the teacher the correct pronunciation of your name, so she can practice it before others arrive. Being a teacher, I always felt a twinge of regret when I butchered a student's name. I would have loved to have someone give me a hint to keep from embarrassing me and the student.

the right way to do it is to come up to your teacher b4 class, and tell her that, one on one.

also i would make it sound better, when the teacher ask how to pronounce you just say " No, its actaully Crocheela" which doesnt sound bad at all, kinda cool. and if some one still laught , just smile it of. A lot of people have wieired last names in US, so it dont matter

But what i would do is when the teacher mispronounced your last name , i would be like " Yo, byatch, its ca roch eey ola, betta recognize fool, or ima pop a gat in ur *** , u mutha****" def will get some respect

I would talk to the teacher before they start attendance, and if it is a big problem and he still gets it wrong, then make it cool that he cant say your name, in other words make a joke out of the situation notice I didnt say your teacher, joke or if your to shy atleast make it sound like your proud of your last name kids attack weakness...

Make an index card with the phonetic spelling of your name on it. Give it to the teacher at the beginning of class (better yet, just before class starts) & say, very nicely, "People usually have trouble with my name, this is how it's pronounced." You can make several cards to give to different teachers. They will most likely appreciate it & you'll have peace of mind. Good luck!

Tell your teachers before they call role--go to class a minute before it starts and corner them and tell them how much you hate it when people mess up your name and that kids will tease you. Make them practice saying it correctly a couple of times too. Most teachers won't mind at all.

The teacher is human--and it is perfectly OK to go to the teacher as soon as you get into class--quietly tell the teacher HOW TO SAY YOUR NAME so that all this stuff won't happen

Try my first name!!! When I took my husband's last name, it's a double whammy! Learn to live w/ it. I find it quite hilarious, especially in school when they got to my name the expression they would get on their face and then try to pronounce it.
