Your dad is right, shipping is not free and it's most likely US dollars. But if may differ if you're buying it from a person rather than the store (yes, Amazon has both).

Your Dad is correct on this.

People in nation X want to be paid in the same currency as their nation ... you go to a bank and ask for a money order or cashier's check in the destination currency ... my buess is this will cost you maybe $ 25.00 plus the actual currency conversion ... cheaper if you already have an account at the bank.

The postal service, and truck companies do not deliver products for free ... they have to pay the drivers a decent living wage, they have to pay of the gasoline for the trucks planes ships trains to travel around the world, and there is also some overhead to keep the trucks in good working condition.

This is why, if you send something via snail mail, you have to buy the envelppe, buy stamps to put on the envelope ... you don't just stick something in the mail box to go to aunt Jennie expecting the mail man to magically know that it is going to aunt Jennie.

It would be slightly more .
Canadian exchange rate has almost caught the USD but not quite .
Also , there is an Amazon Canada , so you can save a fortune on shipping fees
