Of course, if what you're asking is what the CONTENTS of the universe look like on a large scale, that one has a better answer. It looks like nearly random clusters of glowing spots, clumped together in lumpy filaments, with voids around and in between.
Think moth-eaten lace, in three dimensions.

You might get some answers that say that the universe is a sphere. That's dead wrong..! It can't be a sphere because a sphere has a center and the universe has *no* center. On the other hand, when astronomers talk about the 'shape' of the universe they talk about the geometry of spacetime which is apparently flat. That means that the universe is essentially infinite and will continue to expand indefinitely.

Imagine, if you will a big, really big balloon that is expanding at the speed of light, and has been expanding like that for eons and eons. That is sort of what the Universe looks like. Only you have to thrown in several billion trillions of stars, and their associated planets, moons, comets and asteroids, along with about a zillion black holes.
Of course there are some that would have you believe that the Universe lookssort of like a huge snake biting its own tail, or a curleque of infinite length and nuimber of coils.

Generally speaking?
Really, really, Big! Really.
Although most agree that if you look at it from the right angle, it looks like Abe Vigoda.
