The female betta is in no danger from carrying eggs, so no need to worry about that.

As for the male, first, he should be in good condition. You can do that by keeping him in a very clean well heated tank and feeding him a wide variety of frozen foods. After a week or so of pampering, you should see a bubble nest. Use a sponge filter for the breeding tank and keep the water level low, only about 5" deep. Also, increase the temperature a few degrees to help get them in the mood. If I can help further, feel free to email me.

Giving proper water conditions in a tank that is heated and has good filtration is what is needed to get a male Betta to build a bubble nest. Water temperature should be on the warm side at about 80 F. and you should lower the water in your tank down to about half to 2 thirds full. Make sure your water surface is still and provide some floating plants. Spoiling your Betta with freeze dried blood worms will also encourage him to build a nest. A happy and healthy male Betta will usually build a nest.

You should try putting the female betta somewhere that the male can see her, He would get stimulated by the female and start making his bubble nest. If he don't start doing it just try another day because he may not be ready to spank ( breed).

if the male won't do a bubble nest and don't squeeze the eggs out of her enough then the female will die.

well my betta makes a great bubblenest when he was alone, but when i put the female in with him (they didnt do anything) he made a huge one after i took her out. so try introducing the female, or put her in a clear bag and have her float in his tank. then take her out. he should make a nice tank. usually they will drop their eggs. but some fish arent that smart.
