Hi Dark Philosophy,
"Fear of not having enough and Greed for more" is humanity's greatest failure thus far. This is the cause of wars, manipulations, murders, quarrels and all negative things that happen in this world. Let "Fear and Greed" have a day off and see the world becoming a better place. But of course this is wishful thinking.

Sadly, I must say war and religion. Why?
Of course, war prevents the growth of humanity, and hinders our population levels, but it also creates hiatuses in relationships between groups of people, which prevent the sharing of ideas, philosophies, and generally technological progress. In addition, the funding of war takes away from civil services and science. (A mighty fine example Bush has given us. =\)
Religion, well, for one thing it sparks hate and war, with some effects as above. While yes, religion gives hope and happiness to the majority of people, it also consumes time better suited for more helpful activities, such as curing serious ailments and such. Some people take religion too far, such as the militants in the Middle East, zealots who spend their entire lives serving thier diety and producing nearly naught for mankind.

People must go on the pursuit for knowledge instead of dwelling in ignorance and fear of the things they don't understand or are different from them. However, because it's always about money, I don't see that happening ever. What prevalent ignorance due to greed, how sad.
