At first I thought the first plane hit the buildings on accident, when the second one hit I thought it was the same plane, I had know idea it was terrorism, people jumping out of buildings was so scary and people running through the streets, nobody knew what was going on, Walking through the cafeteria, one of the teachers put a TV in the cafeteria for everyone to see. TV's were all over the hallways. What were you doing on that sad day?

I was a 22 year old woman getting ready for my first day at a new job when I got the shocking phone call from my mother. i immediately turned on the TV to see the first tower on fire. I was still getting ready for work, but couldn't get my eyes off the TV......then the other plane plowed through the second tower. I couldn't believe what I've just saw (I still can't)!! Needless to say that I didn't get trained much at work that day and was sent home early. Most of my town was literally shut down. I was watching the news the rest of the day with my mother. It was about 6 years ago when this tragedy happened, but it felt like yesterday. How could anyone forget?

I was in second grade and the teachers were talking about it and no one had any idea what was going on. They never turned on the TVs and let us watch. When I got to day care after school my best friend said some planes had crashed into a building and I thought it was really cool. I didn't understand until a little later that it wasn't cool at all, and that many people died that day.

I was at home getting ready for work. A friend of my dad's called and told him that a plane had crashed into one of the World Trade Center towers. We turned on the TV just in time to see the second plane fly into the other tower. I went on to work where I spent the day watching the live news reports on the Internet with my co-workers.

I was sitting in, interestingly enough, my high school government and politics class in my Senior year. Someone brought my teacher a note that said "terrorists have attacked the World Trade Center" and she was really confused, so we turned on the TVs and all thought the same thing you did, that it was a freak accident, until the second tower was hit, which we saw happen live. Our teacher was so upset, but I remember some jackass boys in the class cracking jokes about the whole situation. I hope they felt like assholes afterward.

I was at the light about to turn left into my gym. This was at the point where the second tower hadn't been hit yet and they were still thinking it was an accident. Later, when it became obvious what was going on, I went into work on my day off because I knew we'd be busy. I'm a paramedic in Northern Virginia, not too far from DC. At the time, I was an EMT.

5 blocks to the north when the first plane hit, and I couldn't get home in time to miss the second one. My dog did Search and Rescue down there as well. Seeing it as it happen was nothing like what was shown on tv, it was 10 times worse. That will be with me the rest of my life.

I had worked the night before so I was sleeping in, and my Mom called and told me to turn on the TV and look at the buildings. A sad, sad day. Thank God for those brave people who helped rescue the survivors.

I was in grade 4. Our teacher took us to the carpet, where we usually sat when he read to us. He gave us this really long lecture about "people of the world". But being immature 4th graders, none of us had any idea of what was going on at that moment, and none of us understood a word that our teacher was saying. I didn't understand the whole thing until I got home.

I was at home with my daughter she was 16 months old!!! My husband called from work and told me that terrorist's had attacked New York. I had never heard of terrorist's I was sheltered as a child. We were both scared and praying and I just held my baby girl like it was the last time. Then my brother-in-law called and said they had wiped New York off the map!!! I was hysterical, I went to my families house to watch the news with them and my husband came. Of course by then we knew my brother-in-law was mistaken and confused but I was still shaken up!!! My husband held me while I cried and I wouldn't let my baby out of my sight. I just couldn't comprehend such hatred!!!

Was on a trip out of town and had reservations to return back home to New York on that very day. Was at the supermarket. But my husband and his friend had either witnessed the tragedy or was in close proximity of it.
