i just bought a 37" vizio and i have a DVI output on my graphics card. I was wondering if there is a wire that changes the dvi to component and if i can still use my monitor while i have this hooked up. I have a geforce 6800 GT. THanks

yes there are cables that go from Dvi to RCA's they are expensive. Radio Shack has them. if they don't have them in stock, they can order them. they will run you close to $60-$70.

There are cables that will physically connect a DVI connector to component video RCA connectors.

However, the analog version of DVI is R G B colour space. Component video uses Y Pr Pb. So just physically connecting the two is pointless as the signals are not compatible.

Unless your system is capable of putting Y Pr Pb signals out, or your TV is capable of accepting R G B on the component inputs there is no point in connecting the two.

You dont need to use components cable for pc to get high def. VGA connection is fine. The graphic output will be high def also. Also if you really serious about takin advantage of your 37" HD LCD tv, you can upgrade your grahic card to the next level, i recommend GeForce 8800 series. You may install a nice quality sound card also and if you want a high def audio. Anyways.. if your graphic card dont have VGA output, you can get an adapter from the ff...
