Minivans can be a very practical vehicle for a large family or someone who travels with lots of baggage. The newer ones have very comfortable interiors with tooons of cool options. Some of the newer ones also have quite a bit of power as well. And I know that the Toyota Sienna comes in an AWD version which is great for people who have snowy winters. For the most part minivans get better gas mileage than an SUV with comprable seating capacities....
That being said, I am not a fan of them and would only own one if I had a family of 4 or more.
But believe it or not, I have never done a bigger burnout than in my dad's v6 2001 Toyota Sienna, lol those were the days.

My wife wants a Honda minivan....but I think they are uuuuggly! All for that matter. I'd rather pick a gas guzzling yukon than a mini van.

If you haul stuff or people they are fantastic. They are not sports car like in handling or body styling however. Because they need to have large interior room the outside is pretty boxy. I do like ours ***not LOVE it.
