Any woman, feminist or not can answer this =)

Remember somewhere in some state in some USA, Walmart refused to hire women? When you heard that, did you refuse to shop at walmart from then on?

Wal-Mart is famous for mis-managing and mis-treating their employees- both men and women. I do think they are trying to make an effort at correcting this, but they have a long way to go. I know that in the town I live in, the Wal-Mart store goes out of it's way to hire people with obvious physical and mental disabilities, and give them jobs that they can actually perform quite well. I think that's one step in the right direction. However, in talking with former Wal-Mart employees there are still big problems that exist. Quite often people are given just less than full time hours so that they don't have to be given benefits or any overtime pay. They mess with people's hours (cutting them way back) because they want you to quit (after you've reached a certain pay level so they can hire someone else to do your job for less)...etc. I know a few people who have worked for Wal-Mart and now will not even shop in their stores because of the way they were treated as employees. Yes, it's enough to make a person not want to shop there...yet the prices are so low they tend to draw people in anyway.

I am not a feminist. but I do work At walmart. and yes they have some problems with workers rights and other issues. but I believe a lot of other stores do also but they don't get talked about as much as walmart.

Oh and I work both as a stock person and as a cashier. and there are a lot of men cashier also. and some of them are nice looking. why does a person's looks always come into things

But No i would not stop shopping at any store just because they may do something other people may not like. God Bless

That's bull. A big store like Walmart could never get away with that, nor would they try to! If that ever happened I'm sure we would be hearing about it in Canada. If it did happen though, it would probably have to be shut down from lack of money being made.

(The statement above about Victoria Secret is a lie. Les Wexner, a man, is Chairman and CEO of the company with 50-50 male/female employment on the Board of Directors as well as throughout the company .)

Walmart has numerous problems related to discrimination and employee benefits scams. They are in court every day over these matters. It's not just a gender issue. It's a workers' rights issue.

I don't think they ever refused to hire women. However, they did get in trouble for intentionally paying them less, not promoting them to higher jobs, and locking them into the building overnight to do work and not able to get out.

every Wal-mart I go to has men doing stock work and big, grotesque, beastly women working the registers. Or did they just decide not to hire attractive women?
