You can also format your hard drive and reinstall your DOS (Windows, I presume) and programs. Make sure to back up all your files first, as they will be deleted.

I'm gonna repeat that: MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP ALL YOUR FILES FIRST, AS THEY WILL BE DELETED.

It's easy to do, but can be unnerving.

Insert your Windows installation cd and reboot. Watch the monitor and when you see "boot from cd" on the bottom, press enter.

Follow the instructions from there, there aren't that many. If you freak out, quit and take it to the shop.

If you're an adrenaline junkie, you'll push on. Don't worry, you won't hurt anything if you quit before finishing. The shop can then clear out the virus for you.

Call and ask the price of both procedures, if you consider formatting the drive yourself.

Boot into safe mode. You may have a disk problem, instead of or in addition to the virus. If you cannot boot into safe mode, contact a repair shop
