well, if you really are afraid, im guessing the most of it is asking her for it in the first place. dont feel bad, and ignore any rude answers to this question. lots of people feel bad or scared about asking girls for their numbers, and few guys can do it easily. those guys who can...manwhores. but if u really are scared, why not just give then yours?? if they are interested, they may give you a call. Some girls feel the same way, so approach casually and small talk it some first. dont comment on the weather. way to cliche my friend.
compliment first, then start a conversation. once u at least know something about her, just ask casually, "so, do you have a number?" sounds dumb yes, but make it simple. make it seem more friendly..add "that i can reach you by" if that makes you feel better.
