very carefully, and one step at a time
1 mile=5280 feet and 1 ft =.3048 m
1 hour= 3600 seconds.
I doubt if you have time^2 terms. Check it over.
If you so, you have to square 3600.

good old unit conversion...

85 mi/hr^2 --> m/s^2...

85 mi/hr^2 * (1hr/3600s)^2 *(1609m/1mi)...

so in principle, you just treat units like algebraic objects and choose conversions that allow you to cancel them down to the units you want...

it gets really bad when you're using non-standard units like slugs...

acceleration of 85 miles per hr per hr
convert to meters/sec per sec

miles = 5280 ft x 12 in/ft x 2.54 cm/in x 0.01 m/cm = 1609.3 meters
hrs = 60 min/hr x 60 sec/hr = 3600 sec

85 mi/hr^2 x 1609.3 meters/mile / (3600 sec/hr x 3600 sec/hr)=0.01506

type it in google like this

85 mi per hour squared in meters per second squared

you get
